This is a very good Technical University recognised by UNIVERSITY GRANTS COMMISSION (UGC) in the eastern India. It is started in the year 2002. All the Engineering College, Medical College, Pharmacy College and Management College in Orissa are under the central of this BPUT.

This BPUT is located in the industrial town of Orissa. It is about 8km West of Rourkela District Sundargarh Orissa. It is about 8 km West of Rourkela Railway Station and 2km from main road. It is situated in a peaceful academic environment surrounded by small hills, green tree in Chhend Housing Colony which is a largest housing colony in Asia, near airport of Rourkela, Ring Road, to Maa Bhagwati Temple. Dr. Omker Nath Mohanty is the Vice Chancellor in BPUT - a famous learned person, son of Dr. Gopinath Mohanty a great novelist and writer and president award winner. Now the University office is functioning in the UGIE Campus. The admission of Engineering College, Medical College, Pharmacy College, Management college are valid through JEE, AIMCET/CET, CAT, XAT, JMET, MAT, ATM as per the subjects offered as per Engineering, Pharmacy, MCA, BBA,  MBA, M.Tech. etc..

Counseling for the successful candidate of Orissa for admission to different College, Institute is held as per programme as scheduled every year and fees to be paid at the time of admission as per fixed by the University.

University certificate in branches are available in the University and all facilities and arrangement are available. The convocation is also held every year to get the certificate.
